Alright so, you've logged into the game, created a character with the nifty character creation thing, and are now wondering what to do.
Worry not! For the almighty and extremely humble IocaTM will learn you something.
First!
Let's learn some background of the game, which can be found on this handy-dandy-dingalink here: guildsofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Guilds_of_Magic
Tl;dr: Your character and the strangers around you will literally shape the world, either solo or banding together in Guilds.
This will be accomplished by one of the fundamental properties of this alternate universe: Magic (Maryoku).
Second!1!
Most people would think the second step is deciding on what magic to pursue, however I'd like think that there is an important step before this. (That is unless you've been given the option to start with a magic, then this step can harmlessly come third)
"Give 'em the ol' razzle dazzle!"
Character Design!!
This step is essential to fully immerse yourself into the game. While doing this, try not to remember that everything is a copy of a copy, and attempt to be as original as possible. I like to call this: being hipster is the new mainstream.
Now I'm going to break this down into a few very simple steps to help you design your character. Annndd go!
Wan 1.) Write up your characters history. This is ultimately what decides how your character behaves now.
-Family relations, friend relations, education, instilled morals, nature vs nurture
Tuo 2.) Choose a personality for your character, this can potentially be influenced by your past.
-(Extrovert, Introvert, Ambivert) Upbeat, Disturbed, Sad, Happy, Cheery, Odd, Crazy, Serious, etc
Threa 3.) Choose a look for your character. This can sometimes be influenced by your personality.
-Hairstyle, clothing. Clothing can be found in the handily-dandily settings verb in the Other tab!
Foar 4.) Choose a profile picture for your character, this is important for full immersion. It gives people a better understanding outside your 32x32 icon of how you look.
-Found in your hiddly-diddly settings verb in the Other tab!
Fhive 5.) Do some fine tuning to your character, give 'em some fears, some ambitions, some strengths and weaknesses, and maybe a hobby?
-Irrational fear of spiders/clowns/the color yellow. Aspiring singer/writer/food critic. Weak for women/men/trick-knees. Maybe they enjoy underwater basket weaving?
And bam! Finished designing your character. Hold the applause, we're not finished yet.
Third!2!11!
This step is relatively quick, choose the magic you're character is going to pursue, if any!
Also remember, that your characters magic/abilities most commonly is influenced by their personality, or just by surroundings and who taught them in the first place.
Here's the hardly-dangly-diddly-dingalink to a list of magic: guildsofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Magic
Fourth!!1!!@ !!
If you've reached this step, you're ready to to submit your character for review. This is done on the forums, which firstly you'll have to register on, which seriously takes like 5 seconds. Here's the hartsy-ditzy-flipsy-dingalinksy to the forum: guildsofmagic.boards.net/board/10/character-profiles
Fifth!!1!&!%1
Assuming your character was accepted on the forum, you're all ready to jump into the game! Now you get to enjoy the adventure of joining a vast world inhabited by many people eager to strengthen their prowess in their respected forms of magic. This may seem a bit overwhelming at first, and you may not know where to start. But do a little bit of traveling, speak to a couple strangers, ask a few questions, and you may not have to do it all alone. The game-world is just like this post, it starts off normal, but the more you venture into it, the more chaotic it gets. Because how fun would it be if everything was orderly and normal? Exactly.
(P.s. as the game get's more updated more will be added to this guide.)
